How to sew a regular fiting blouse in stretch fabric.

Carmelita | Posted in General Discussion on

Hi Everyone,

I want to make a top in a stretch fabric.  Can I use my regular fitting blouse?  Would i have to remove the ease, and how much should that be?  Thanks in advance.

It really depends on how stretchy your fabric is and how closely fitted you like your tops.  If you're using a woven cotton/spandex with just 5% spandex, you'll still need most, if not all, of your normal ease and can probably use a regular pattern.  However, if you're using a very stretchy knit fabric, you'll probably have better luck with a pattern for knits only.

Hi Tea15,  thank you for your response.  It is a stretchy knit fabric, so I will follow your suggestion and buy a pattern for knits only.
