Best fabric to interline a jacket

SewingPat | Posted in General Discussion on

I love to use home dec fabrics for jackets and vests, mainly because the fabric offers enough stability that I don’t feel like I need to line it.  However, I’m beginning to think some of the jackets need a bit more structure but I’m not inclined to start lining the jackets.  Years ago, I interlined some jackets but it’s been so long ago that I need help in which fabrics are best for interlining.  Also, if the jacket has darts and seams, do I sew both fabrics as one for the darts and seams?  Thanks so much for your help!  Pat

I prefer using a good quality cotton for underlining. And yes, you need to work with both pieces as one.
