A Visit to Nancy’s Notions Retail Store

Crazy K | Posted in Gather For A Chat on

My dear hubby and I just returned from a short trip to our neighboring state of Wisconsin and Nancy’s Notions Retail store.  What a joy!!  I realize that I am fortunate enough to live close enough to do that.  I will no doubt make the trip again.  It is nearly 5 hours but after reading some of the threads, I am so fortunate not to have to make that trip every time I want or need something!!

It was so exciting to see all the projects that she shows in her catalogs ‘up close and personal’ as they are all on display in her store!!  Eye candy in every direction!  I did come up with two large shopping bags full of goodies and probably could have gotten more but my stash is already way too large.

Just wanted to share the experience and say to all……..if you are ever anywhere near and have the time, it is worth the stop.  She has lovely fabric, all the books, DVD’s, patterns and notions that are in the catalog and you can see and TOUCH.

No………I am not related to her and I have no connection with her business.  Just a fun experience to share……

Happy Sewing…………

Oh what fun!  You got to see and TOUCH all the goodies.  I'm jealous!  :-)   I love her catalog--in fact, I was just planning to place an order online when I saw your post.  What kind of coincidence is that?  Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

...Hmmm...let me look through the catalog again...maybe there's something else that I need....

Does she have quite a bit more fabric than is listed in the catalog? Some of it is very nice, but a little expensive. Seems like everything is nine dollars a yard. Well, not too expensive, just more than I am used to at Hancock. I would love to see it.Marcy

I do think she has more than listed.  It's all fine quality.....thus a bit more expensive.  Her prices seemed to be $6.98 to around $10 per yard.  She does have a clearance room where everything is at least 30% off......which is something I don't see in her catalogs.  I try to buy the least expensive I can find of decent quality for 'play clothes' both for myself and for the grandkids (so I hit the fabric outlets when I can!) but Nancy's fabric would qualify for a 'better' outfit.  Does that make sense??  I did come home with a couple of pieces for some slacks for myself, as well as some notions and quilted stuff for hot pads.  She also has lots and lots of cottons for quilts........and many different quilts on display.  I am not a quilter but can't help but admire the precision and beauty.

It was a fun trip.  I can see myself doing this again sometime.  It's a beautiful drive for us.

I know what you mean. You are getting quality fabrics. Did you see the oxford striped material in her catalog for pants? I want to buy the charcoal. I love the angel fabrics, but not sure what I would make with it, other than a bag. The pigment dyed t shirts are calling me, also.

I did see it........it is a summer weight linen-like fabric.  Very pretty and 'airy' looking.  Would be nice for a loose, wide leg pant......at least I think so.  I guess that's pretty much what she showed for style.

I must say that all her fabrics are top-shelf.  I got myself some of the Juliette in white to use after I master the Pamela's Perfect T pattern that I recently bought!  Beautiful fabric and should make a lovely top.

I think I'm talking myself into another trip!! LOL

          Happy Sewing!
