Greetings all.. from a new member

sewveryhappy | Posted in Gather For A Chat on

I am Sew Very Happy to meet you all in this group. Let me tell you about my sewing habits. Sewing since age eight, I brag to people that I’ve been sewing for over fifty years. For over thirty of those years I have been sewing for charities. I make beautiful silk and taffeta dresses with hospital ties in the back. Some terminally ill children’s requests are, “make me feel like a princess.” That’s easy. Some kids are missing limbs and you just can’t get that kind of custom clothing at Walmart. I make break a away (velcro) clothing, speciality hospital gowns, quilts, cancer caps and more.

I sew a little every day. One of my email backgrounds says, “she who dies with the most fabric wins.” My daughter says that will be me.

Oh no.  I think I will win that contest.  Welcome to the group.  I am new too, and I am glad to meet this group.  You sound very creative.  I am sure the children appreciate you.

        Ladies,
You all sound like so much fun to "talk" to - but, let me assure all of you, I am the winner. Until we moved three years ago, I literally had no idea I had that much fabric. (This sounds incredibly stupid but it's true). We moved from a two-story house into a one-story house. I ended up entertaining our former neighbors because I was heaving bags of fabric over the back balcony into the yard (as close to the garage/moving truck as I could possibly manage it). Personally, I am convinced some of it just moved into my sewing room from the neighbor's place. I have spent a lot of time in the last two years arranging & organizing my fabric into manageable amounts. And, yet, I still buy more -- yes, I am a fabriholic....:) :)Julie

Hello everyone!  I just joined the chat room today as well.  I have been sewing for over 50 years, and used to joke that I would tackle pyjamas for an elephant!   Well, I'm not so sure about that anymore, but I still love to sew on a regular basis.   And as for that fabric stash ... I was sure I would win hands down, until I saw my oldest daughter's stash.   She sews professionally for the theatre, and recently when she moved her apartment she donated a full truckload of fabric to charities!   I'd say she is waaaaay ahead of me in the fabric junkie stakes!

I look forward to chatting with everyone on an ongoing basis, and learning lots of new tips and tricks.
