Yes it is Summer Down Under. I live on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Just Beautiful.
Do a google search for Manly Beach or Palm Beach. I am somewhere inbetween.
One hrs drive north of Sydney City.
Bushfire Season has also begun. Temp was 34 degrees Celcius – sorry don’t know how to convert to farenheit. One more thing to learn. – We are safe from the current fires.
How is it where you are?

C deg x 1.8 + 32 = Fahrenheit so 34C = 93F
when my son was born the hospital sent us home with a new fangled digital thermometer, but it gave C deg. so I did a lot of converting when he had a fever!

Good morning Sweetie: The weather in Chicago is above normal, around 70F right now, was about 71F when I left home this morning and rising. It is humid and it started raining about half hour ago. It's 10:15 a.m. as I write this and I've a empty desk before me. Luckily I brought a little knitting. I'm waiting for my boss to come in so we can schedule our United Way Drive before the downtown office kills us.

This is my results from searching Manly Beach Australia. It is beautiful country. I wish I could visit. Maybe I'll try next year to book on the beach. That would be a great trip for my grands don't you think? I want to travel outside of the US, but I don't want to go to any warring country. Flying is enough of a challenge for me as it is. Australia hasn't been in the news. (giggle) I'm so glad you are safe from the fires, and glad you have clear skys, tell little Thomas "good day" for me.
I'm going to cast on and try to start this lace pattern for cuffs I saw on DIY w/Vickie Howell. I love that show, I tape it everyday and watch when I come home.

mates 6th birthday party in a few weeks, they are combining it with Halloween.
The best sellers are Skeletons and Grim Reapers. T does not want to look like everybody else, sooooo. hopefully mummy will have time to make him something. He wanted to be a ghost (casper), but daddy thought of Beetle Juice. Luckily the black and white striped fabric is on sale. Got a vampire wig I will tease up with hairspray and of course paint his face white with black rings around the eyes. Simple elastic waist trousers and coat.
I can have my charming little boy into a not so friendly ghost for one day...lol
A light thunderstorm upon us at the moment. I do hope for a sunny day Tuesday, as it's my birthday, I will be 37.
I have GoogleEarth installed on my pc. That is how I 'travel' overseas.
Lace pattern for cuffs sounds interesting, I do not knit or crochet, I leave that to mother-in-law.
Better go and get back to sewing the xmas costumes.

Please stop by my place. I will keep you away from my sewing machine, I'd hate to make you work and not play...although sometimes playing with the sewing machines is a good learning experience.
Isn't it wonderful. I just responded to Susannah Sews in Tasmania and I am so delighted for all of the wonderful things I've heard. I've got the hot foot now. I'll be researching everything to see what I can do. I'm not getting any younger and I want to see something outside of the USA. I love it here, but it's nice to see something else other than on television. I used to watch nature and travel programs a lot and thats the only way I would see other places in the world. Now I would like to see them in person.

I'm near Denver, Colorado, in the Western USA and we are having our first snowfall of the year. It is sticking to the ground and coming down in large flakes. Many of our trees have just started turning. Yesterday we had lunch on the patio with family and friends and drove the car with the top down as it was in the 70's. We always dress in layers here as the weather is always unpredictable. The roast is cooking and it is a good day to sew! Mary

I was in Denver last week, the weather was glorious (compared to the hot humid weather of Houston) It snowed in the mountains while I was there, the trees were so beautiful - yellow, gold, red. I just love the trails that run among all the neighborhoods (The Highline canal I think). I run so I really enjoyed that. My best friend lives in Denver, I just wish I could visit more often.
My in laws live along that canal, near Bible Park. It is a beautiful area. We live about 20 miles northwest of there. It's a small world isn't it? The snow will probably melt tomorrow and then it will be in the low 70's again, who knows? I hope so! I have a friend coming in from Arkansas, don't want him to freeze!
We are hoping to go up to Silverton, near Durango. He wants to go to the casinos. He's already been to Blackhawk and Central City near here. I worked at an Urgent Care Center in Blackhawk, it was the best experience of my nursing career I think. I loved it. But not the drive down the mountain in blizzards! whew! Once, a big elk stuck his nose down into my sunroof, thrilling, as his Mrs. and baby stopped short right next to my car. Had they not been able to stop, I would've rolled over the cliff! Mary
My friend and I are also nurses. I'm a family nurse practitioner. She lives in Centennial and works at a rehab hospital. The ER has always been my forte, but now, I just stay home and sew - its much more fun.
It's great to finally "take the time to smell the roses" and have some fun!
It's lovely to hear/see the discussion on climate by the various posters. It's all so immediate. I'm writing from sunny Dublin (well it's more like sunset now) where the leaves on the trees are slowly turning and will take till Christmas - and after - to drop (at least I am still rounding them up then). The weather here while changeable does not vary too much. We get snow that stays on the ground once about every ten years or so and less than 30 inches of rainfall per annum. The temperature seldom exceeds 70F or falls below 40F. Otherwise it is nicely boring.I have just returned from a four week holiday in the US where we went to see the "Fall Colours". They didn't happen!!! We spent a fortune travelling around at VERY high season rates. We got a few nice days, lots of rain, wind, and either very hot or very cold weather. The weather was more unreliable on a daily basis than ever is here on an annual basis, - the upshot - glad to get home.
Our last visit to the US was more interesting and enjoyable as we visited Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada. Then the weather was dependable and just gradually got colder as the Autumn developed. That visit was just after the horrors of hurricane Katrina. Now one's heart has to go out to those who have lost everything in the fires in California. The mother of one of the posters to this forum is a case in point. It would be lovely to help those who have lost everything to build their lives back. Any ideas?
I'm dreaming of a White Christmas!
I am from Lafayette, N. of Denver. We spent 2 weeks in Allenspark, near Estes, at our 70yr.-old cabin and the weather was great. Then we drove to NW Arizona with our daughter and the weather was great. Then we drove to our new (7 yrs.) home in S. Oregon and went through snow, rain, wind, and fog on the way over the mtn. pass. I can't believe how FAST summer turns into fall, especially in the mtns.
I have dreamed of living in southern Oregon since I vacationed there in the early 70's. Klamath Falls, Crater Lake, etc. So incredibly beautiful! I am so jealous! I also want to at least visit there again, and see the giant redwoods in Muir Woods.
My brother is a glassblower, if you went in the shops in Estes Park area or several places in this part of the country, you may have seen his columbines and hummingbirds. He lived in Estes area for many years. My family used to rent cabins there when they came to visit. (He also worked in the woods, clearing the dead or fallen trees and selling for firewood. With permits of course.)
It's nice to know you are nearby. Maybe we can meet at a Sewing Expo or quilting show sometime. I'm in Arvada. Mary
Hello there - it is just after 1300 hrs on Vancouver Island, west coast of Canada. The sun is high in the sky, it is about 20C. It gets cooler at night here, being right on the Pacific Ocean. Our hottest day ever was this summer, it was about 31.somethingC.
We get very little snow in the wintertime, sometimes none. We do get rain, but not as much as the mainland. Any day in the winter you can see people in shorts and t-shirts, wearing sandals. Right behind them you will see someone in an anorak and hiking boots, scarf and hat.
One of these days I plan to visit Australia, nearly emigrated there in the 1950s as a matter of fact. In the summer of 2006 I visited Norway, Iceland and the Faroe Islands and experienced the midnight sun, daylight 24 hrs a day. I have also lived in the Yukon and many times saw the aurora borealis in the northern sky, so to round out my experiences, I really need to visit Down Under.
