Sway Back – skirt falls in front

b Sway Back – skirt falls in front.
Can you help me? I’m making a skirt for a young woman. She has a sway back. The 50’s style poodle skirt is very full and gathered up to the waistband. The skirt fits comfortably around her waist, but falls down in the front and rides up in the back. Should I make it tighter? I’ve thought of adding rubberized material to the inside of the front waistband to hold it up in place. Thanks

Measure from the floor up to the hemline in front and back and note the difference. that is the amount the waistband needs to be lowered at center front and tapered in a graduated arc to nothing at center back. consult a book on alterations and sewing. also there was an article recently in Threads about it. let the waistline settle naturally to her figure and don't try to force it otherwise, as it will be difficult to keep it in an unnatural waistline. also, should you encounter this again always measure for finished length at CB and add and subtracat to the hemline there and all around the skirt, and still make the f waist adjust to get a skirt that hangs true.
