what is the difference between sewing a sleeve ‘set in’ style and sewing a sleeve by just matching notches and sewing straigh across if both the armscye measurement and the sleeve cap measurement is the same and there is no ease? thank you in advance for your help.

The underarm seams will cross differently. This will not matter if the sleeve is dropped or extended, but with a real set-in sleeve, it will bunch uncomfortably. Also, for a set-in sleeve, the curve will be smoother with the usual method.

    Hope this helps...
