ready wear necklines pull to back
I remember an article about this in a past Threads issue, but can't find it. Why does the collar of some of my store-bought blouses ride up in front and pull to the back? The blouses I make for myself don't do this, because I make them to fit me. Is the bust too small?, arms not right? Do you think I can alter ready wear? Thanks for your input!

Mine do that, too. On me, (post #34516, reply #1 of 1)
Mine do that, too. On me, it's because there isn't enough fabric in the back shoulder area. On patterns, I add 1" to the back shoulder seam and deduct 1" to the front shoulder seam. On ready to wear, you can try shortening the front shoulder and not the back. That solves some of the pulling to the back on my shirts but not all of it. And sometimes it means that I have to recut the back neck as well because the alteration can pull the back neck forward. In that case, I only alter it if I really like it and would wear it more after the alterations.
