I have a problem with too much fabric between shoulder blades and waist in the lower back area. With any material with body the fabric balloons. From the front, the finished garments(and I) look dumpy. Any suggestions?

Dorothy, have you compared your "back waist length" (the distance from prominent neckbone to waist) to that of the pattern? It sounds as though you are shorter-waisted than the pattern, and the fabric is bunching up on you.
