I am a petite person, 5’1″. I purchased some leather pants that I must shorten. I do not want to stitch them, but rather use some sort of adhesive to hem them. Liquid Stitch is what I have, but after reading the label, I was afraid to use it. It recommends against using it on clothing to be dry cleaned. A lady in a leather shop said they use an adhesive much like rubber cement to hem, but I am not about to use rubber cement!! Any suggestions??????

The glue she is talking about is called "Velcro #40." It's also good for just about anything else, including gluing jewellery fixings, purse straps, errant bits of shoes...
Another possibility is double-sided tape, available at stationery stores. I cut sections no longer than quarter of the length of the hem at a time. Affix the four bands to the turnback, then remove the backing and fold carefully. I emphasize the word "carefully" because it is quite permanent.
*>I have used rubber cement to hem and bond leather. A thin layer is spread on both surfaces and allowed to dry. Then the hem is turned up and finger pressed in place. Weighing it down for a couple hours would be a good idea, too. You might want to hem those pants a tad longer than you would ordinarily. Leather has a tendency to develop permanent wrinkles, which slightly shorten the garment.
