Fitting a client

user-1123786 | Posted in Fitting on

Hi

I just drafted a pattern for my friend and have fit the muslin. She has quite an unusual front – kind of pigeon chested, a standard 36″ bust and a short torso.

In fitting, I had to fiddle around alot and have ended up with what looks like a good fit but a new 4″ dart (that is 2″ on either side). This helped drop the armhole too as it was riding up into her armpit too much.

Is a 4″ dart unusual and too wide?

Thanks

Clare

    Hi Clare,

This is not unusally at all. The amount of fabric taken out in the dart accommodates a larger cup size. It helps to curve the fabric around the breast.
