Fitting a client (post #36385)

I just drafted a pattern for my friend and have fit the muslin. She has quite an unusual front - kind of pigeon chested, a standard 36" bust and a short torso.

In fitting, I had to fiddle around alot and have ended up with what looks like a good fit but a new 4" dart (that is 2" on either side). This helped drop the armhole too as it was riding up into her armpit too much.

Is a 4" dart unusual and too wide?

Hi Clare, This is not (post #36385, reply #1 of 1)

Hi Clare,

This is not unusally at all. The amount of fabric taken out in the dart accommodates a larger cup size. It helps to curve the fabric around the breast.
