   megn, of course they can be taken in. The problem is that it's not a really easy fix for someone with limited experience. Basically, the job will involve taking off the beltloops and the waistband, except at the fronts or sides (wherever it fastens). Then you would deepen the existing darts or add a couple more small ones, and maybe take in the side seams at the waist, if still more fullness had to be removed. The legs can be narrowed by deepening both the side seams and inseams the same amount. If all this did the job, then you'd need to shorten the waistband by putting in a back seam in it, then reattach it, and finally sew the belt loops back on.

   However, there might be other fitting issues that are relevant, like a baggy seat, so you might want to ask an experienced local seamstress for an estimate.

   *I have recently lost weight and all my pants are baggy at the thighs. I have tried decreasing the out seam and inseam. Also just the out seams but they both cause tightness in the crouch. Is there a way to alterther without taking them completely apart?
