Is Threads website for Sewing

Fredwb | Posted in Feedback on Threads on

Just curiouse!

Is threads magazine for sewing only or is it fashion in general? After looking at blogs with pictures of mostly naked young girls on it! (Somebody selling sexy swimwear, Models in there underwear, topless etc.) I am curiouse? These people did not sew these items they are just uploading sexy pictures and linking to there site. Personally I kind of like it, but it’s more in the line of Fashion or SPAM then it is sewing.

I actually made a post saying how I liked one blog and then my post  was “Removed”

Again

Just curiouse!

Note:

I could understand if it were clothing (or lack there of) that a person had sewn on their own and was showing what they had made and explained a little how they made it!

Threads is a sewing magazine.  It does not usually contain photos of scantily clad women.  Do you have a sewing question?

    Hi Fred,

IMO, Threads is a high sewing techniques magazine (ie. this isn't what my mother taught me) with a fashion slant.  Or maybe it's a fashion magazine (ie. this isn't what my mother would wear) combined with sewing technique ... anyway, I think your SPAM/hacker observation is correct.

I don't think the posters had much to add to the discussion of clothing construction ...

      Thanks Kate! I guess I

      Thjanks Kate!

I guess I made my point in a bad manner! It's seems I was snubbed :) However, it sure seemed like evertime I logged in there was another Hottie (for lack of better word) and it was not something anyone made. When I read some of the posts, some people actually said they did a great job (of sewing it) When in reality it was links to another site selling Sexy Undies and things. Again! If thats ok with the Threads policy, then Hey I am ok with it. I just did not think it was apprpriete for this kind of site! HOWEVER, if it is Fashion and sewing and anything at all related, then it may make sense (the underwear site may be a sponser of Threads?) Thats why I asked. PLUS when I made a comment  (an innocent (funny) one about how I was getting to like this site (because everytime I logged on that is what I was seeing) It was deleted.

UGH! I am just going to drop it and move on. I guess I could have said it in a better way

THANKS for agreeing with me! (I thought I was going crazzy-or- the womens lib movement hit Threads in a bad way! LOL!

        Readers Closet

I know what you were refferring to, the postings in the "readers closet" had gotten out of hand with the pictures to the scantily clad models and links to other websites. I don't think these were santioned by threads, just a type of Spam. It was unwelcome by many readers I would guess.

    Received Comments out of Context?

    Hi Fred,

I think what happened is that the site was hit with spam with pictures of scantily clad women.  And depending on when you logged in you may or may not have seen it, because some of it was removed.  Therefore, your original comments may not have understood in that context.

It's a fabulous site for those interested in sewing.  The skills and contributions of the Gathering's members are unparalleled. Generally, I've found the participants to be warm and helpful.  However the site is currently going through some growing pains due to the implementation of a new system.  But I'm hopeful we will continue on beyond this hiccup.

Welcome to the site!  I hope you enjoy yourself as I have.
