Threads on DVD – available when?

Lataxe | Posted in Feedback on Threads on

As everyone knows (yes they do) I am a wunnerful husband and even have an embroidered sustifikate to prove it.  So, I have ordered the DVD ROM of endless THREADS magazines for the ladywife.  I know this will improve the home-made cravats and pantaloons pour moi but even so, surely this is an excellent Christmas present?

Well, it would be if it was going to arrive by Christmas.  “Available April 2009” says the marketing blurb; although it contains all THREADS issues up to and including Dec_09/Jan_10!  Have they got a time machine!?  Do they plan the issues so many months in advance!!?  Probably not, so they mean that I can have the wee disc in April 2010 I suppose……?

Let a Taunton marketing person make a definitive statement on the matter and also explain this unaccountable delay.

Also, I must complain about another aspect.  Free postage for all ye natives of the USofA but we Brits must pay $13.95 post & packing!  This is an outrage, as the extra post for CD-shaped objects sent to Blighty over the pond is a few cents, not many dollars.  Also, there is that delay as the Queen Mary steams across the waves.

There, I have moaned-on just like a proper Whinging Pom.  It better be a bluddy good DVD, eh, eh.

    This confused me too!

But it's american! 12/4/2009 translates as 4/12/2009, ie early December.

So yes your present will arrive on time!

I'm looking forward to my DVDs

      L,

Coo, the rascals insist on them strange imperial measurements (64th of a hinch and so forth) and now they are putting the day between the month and the year!

I feel a mission is needed to introduce these beknighted former colonists to lovely modern metric, correct date nomenclature and (whilst we are there) korrect spellin', especially the use of that fine letter "u".  After all, we do not want to cofuse colour (color) with collar, especially when it comes to cutting one out for the nice shirts, from a pattern.

Still, it is a relief to know that the ladywife will get her nice DVD so not be disappointed at Christmas, as she may otherwise have hidden the goose, the pud, the cake, the port and the crackers; then got out the frozen cabbage soup instead.  A chap can only sup-up so much boiled cabbage before his gill turns.

    Lataxe,

Nice to see you on the Gatherings forum. I have no clue about when the Threads DVD-ROM will be out but, glad to hear that a fellow Brit was able to find an answer.

I'm sure the "ladywife" will love the gift.

Note: I'm just testing the threads forum in its new spot. Do you get an email reply when I comment on this? Thanks, Gina from Knots.

      Gina,

Sorry about the delay in replying; I have been in the shed.

Happily an email has just arrived from the Taunton Store to say the Threads DVD has shipped. Even now, Colleen is staring at the screen and smirking in anticipation. However, she cannot have the goodie until 25/12/09 (note korrect date format) when Santa comes down the chimney.

I haven't set the forum to send me an email when someone replies to a post of mine - I just go to look about generally to see who's jabberin'. I got your other email though. I see you are a busy woman; and must by now be quite weary from pouring a lot of oil on to the troubled waters, especially the storms-in-a-teacup over on Knots, which hasn't even changed yet!

Them Knots lads are a parky lot and remind me of one Private Fraser in the British sit-com "Dad's Army". He was a mizzerable auld Scot who generally expected the worst and often uttered the plaintive cry, "We're all doomed"!

Anyway, good luck with the forum revolutions and remember that cyber-executions by the armies of moaners are essentially quite harmless. :-)
