subscriptions to australia

susannah_sews | Posted in Feedback on Threads on

Hi

I’ve been a subscriber to Threads for nearly 10 years.  Generally my copies of Threads arrive around the same date that the issue is scheduled to be on newsstands in the US, about a week after US subscribers get their copies.

This has been the pattern for all of the time I have been subscribing except for about three issues in 2006, and the last two copies (I received issue 152 quite late – some time in early December, and i am yet to receive issue 153).

I sincerely hope that Taunton has not been experimenting with altertative postage arrangements, as they did in 2006, which resulted in subscription copies arriving weeks after the issues appeared in newsstands in Australia.

I contacted customer service when my copy of 152 appeared to have not arrived, and they sent me a replacement (which arrived a week later by airmail, to be followed two weeks later by my standard subscription copy!)

II am reluctant to contact customer service again if the only outcome is to receive two copies (although  friends in the Sewing Guild are quite happy to share the extra copy!)

What I acutally want is for Taunton to get their act together and make sure that normal service is resumed!

    Waiting for my copy

Hi Susannah, I live an hour and a ferry ride away from Victoria, British Columbia. I get into town frequently and noticed that #153 had been on the magazine stands for weeks. It's excruciating to wait for my copy when it's right in front of my nose. Happily, I received my subscription copy in the post yesterday (Jan 25th)  and of course got so thoroughly absorbed that dinner didn't get made until 8 pm. (!!some background grumbling by spouse, haha.)

I so enjoy my Threads I hate to b**** but  I feel rather abandoned out here in the "far Thules".  Surely subscribers are as important as retailers.

    subscriptions to Australia

    Hi Susannah,

I live in Brisbane and only received my copy 153 on th 25th Jan.  I  also had a replacement for 152 which arrived 2 weeks before my standard copy (about 6 weeks late)

I am due to renew my subscription now but am not interested if they are not going to be sent as they have been in the past.

I have several months ago put an enquiry to the editor regarding this web site and still have not had a reply.

      subscriptions in Australia

I live in Melbourne - same story.  I also have the feeling we're heading for the same mess we had in 2006 - what is happening?

        subscriptions in Australia

I am due to renew my subscription now.  I have e-mailed in "contact the staff" to enquire about the late arrivals. I think they must have been sending our mags by surface again - even though in 2006 they promised us Air .

I usually received it about a week or so after the picture of the current cover was shown on the website. I'm hoping that I get a satisfactory reply as I am not interested in receiving it 5 or 6 weeks after the rest of the world.  We do after all pay an international subscription.

    Nothing in Redcliffe Queensland either

I live in Redcliffe Queensland, about 30 minutes from Brisbane, and as of today 31/1/11 I have not recevied my copy of #153 either.  I have emailed Customer Service as they have previosuly sent me replacements for missing copies, and then like others, I have ended up receiving the missing copy in the mail weeks later.

But like everyone else, I would prefer just to get what I've paid for and not have to chase them all the times.

If anyone from Threads is reading these messages, could they give us some insight into what is going on?

      Nor Wellington New Zealand

Just thought I would add my pennies worth.  I live in Wellington New Zealand and my husband gets a train magazine from USA and his arrived on time as usual but my mag didnt and then a few weeks later it turned up.  Very disappointing!

    a forewarned Aussie

I had been thinking about purchasing a Threads subscription - but after reading all all the entries on this forum thread I have decided against it.  Reason: I live in Australia, and Taunton hasn't even bothered to put an explanation for the delayed delivery or any other constructive comments onto this forum thread.

      subscriptions to Australia

      Hi all

I have received a reply from Karen Williams (contact the staff)  and have copied it as below:

      "

Thank you for your inquiry. We would like to thank you for your information regarding delays in receiving your subscription in Australia. We investigated issue #152 and learned that all of the international copies left the distribution center on 10/21 which was the week they were scheduled. We have no records of any significant delays and copies should have reached Australia by early to mid-November. After that Australia Post takes over and we can only speculate as to why your issue of Threads #152 was late. We are continuing to investigate this matter to identify what caused these delays. We certainly don't want to have anyone experience interrupted service with their subscription. We would like to reassure you that we have not made any changes to our delivery network. We appreciate your patience and we want to thank you for your feedback and welcome any additional comments you have.

In order to provide a quality customer experience, we need your input. Please take a few minutes to tell us about your experience."

It appears that if we make our concerns known on Gatherings they are not passed on to anyone for follow up.

        Latest on deliveries to Australia

        Hi

I followed up several times by email about where issue #153 was and recevied a similar email to yours from Customer Service.  But still the magazine didn't arrive.  Then today I received the following email from Taunton:

(I've deleted my personal deatils from the above for privacy)

So I gather from this that Taunton have finally realised that Issue #153 has gone into a black hole, and are now resending it.  Did anyone else get a similar message?
