Subscription Renewal

Rkelker | Posted in Feedback on Threads on

Please explain why, after renewing my subscription directly through a Threads renewal offer, I get these additional offers (3 so far) for renewal from a company called PBA – one in Reno, NV and another in White City, OR. They offer an email address of:       [email protected]. and a phone # 707.266.6673. The offer is 6 issues for 1 yr for $72.00.  I’d like to know why Threads Magazine would give out my personal information.  I know it had to come from Threads because when I first subscribed several years ago, I left out a letter in my last name so I could track junk mail. These offers have my name spelled the same as my Threads subscription.  FYI – I have never subscribed to magazines from grade school fund raisers.  You may want to research these offers and do what you can to shut them down.  I have to wonder how many other people get these in the mail and when they see the price of $72 for a one-year subscription, just toss the offer in the trash.   How many potential subscribers do you think you lose?

I do have the offers in the event someone @ Threads would like to review documents.

I like your idea for tracking the source of junk mail.

    Beware of renewal fraud

Rkelker, I'm sorry you have experienced this renewal fraud, and I'm glad you were wise to it. We are aware that several subscription agencies, all with an address of 216 Lemmon Dr. #357, Reno, NV 89506 or PO Box 2489, White City, OR 97503 have circulated solicitations described as NOTICE OF RENEWAL/NEW ORDER for Threads and other Taunton Press magazines.  Please be advised none of these agencies have been authorized to sell subscriptions to Threads or any other Taunton Press magazine.  As a matter of fact, cease and desist letters have been sent demanding this activity stop immediately.  Unfortunately, as far as we can tell, they have chosen to ignore our demands.

For your future reference, as part of the Taunton community, you have been assigned a unique account number, which is the 12-digit number in the first field on the label of the magazines you will receive. Taunton Press includes this account number on every official notification it sends.

Throughout the course of the year, we encourage you to visit our web site at ThreadsMagazine.com. Within the site, we have a section labeled “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQ).  In this area, under “Topics,” you can select “Manage Your Account” followed by clicking on the search button. This feature allows you to access information that is relevant to your account, such as determining subscription expiration dates. We also welcome all phone calls. Please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department at 800-477-8727, 9am-5pm ET, Monday-Friday, if you have any questions or concerns.

Here's the link to the FAQ referred to above :
