What can I make out of this acrylic?

Kaydub | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

Help!  My sister-in-law was kind enough to buy some fabric for me when she went to visit friends in Thailand.  Unfortunately, it isn’t silk.  According to my burn test, it’s acrylic.  There’s about two yards of plain light purple and another approx. two yards of light purple with the traditional Thai ikat style weave in yellow with a touch of blue.  I tried washing it to soften the hand and to get the fold lines out.  And I washed it again to get the fold lines out.  And I washed it again to get the vinegar stains out after I tried the white vinegar trick, which partially worked, but the fold lines returned, and the vinegar stains washed out.  So I tried sewing pintucks on the fold lines on the plain fabric, which look okay, but I still don’t have a clue as to what I am going to make with it.  One friend suggested making a small whole cloth quilt, which is where I may go unless someone has a better idea.  Oh, and I thought of a wrap skirt, since it is a border print, but I just don’t know what to do about the permanent fold lines.  So I am open to suggestions.  Thanks!

What about a jeans-style jacket?  There are lots of pieces so you can cut around the fold in the fabric.  I made a Vogue #7610 Sandra Betzina jacket with old denim jeans (cut up part of my stash of worn out jeans) - I love this jacket.

Wow.  Thanks.  That is a great idea.  I pulled out some of my jacket and vest patterns, but none seemed right for this fabric.  A jeans style jacket, however, would work.
