Looking For Unique Apparel Fabrics Online

mzjohansen | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

Hello!

I am new to Threads Insider although I have received the magazine for many years. I spend much of my sewing time quilting but have recently wanted to get back to making some clothes as well.

i live in an area that has absolutely no fabric shops within less than a full days travel – so much of my fabric purchasing is done online. I am looking for unique, somewhat simple, prints in linens, challis, rayon so etc. I have looked at innumerable online apparel fabric shops to no avail…..

so my question is:

Can anyone recommend an online apparel fabric vendor that might offer unique prints, solids, abstracts etc. My tastes are for rather simple designs if not solids in more, rather than less, natural fibers or combinations

many thanks !

    Online Fabric Shops

    Hello,

I’ve shared your inquiry with the Threads editors and here are a few of their suggestions.

EmmaOneSock.com – This online store offers really beautiful, unusual designer fabrics.

It’s just so easy to shop with the owner. She suggests coordinating fabrics AND includes Pantone numbers for color reference.

PrintedSilkFabrics.com is really fun, they have all kinds of unique silk prints in different weights, woven and knit.

ShannonFabrics.com for cuddle, fleece, faux fur, cotton gauze. They don’t carry a huge variety of fabric types, but anything they do carry, they carry a lot of it with lots of color and texture options.

FabricMartFabrics.com - They have a great—but ever-changing—selection of designer fabrics at really good prices. But if you like something you see, you should buy it then as there’s no guarantee they’ll have it next time you visit the online shop. They list the fabric’s characteristics quite thoroughly, and they also say how much of each fabric they have in stock. Sometimes they have really good sales, too.

GorgeousFabrics.com - The selection is very good. This is another shop that gets designer cuts in limited quantities.

SawyerBrook.com and AppleAnnieFabrics.com – These two online stores also have textiles that would meet your description, and they offer excellent customer service. They’ll help you create coordinating groups and match lining and thread. This is really helpful if you can’t get to a store easily.

    We hope this helps!
