How to make flanged velvet pillow

grk006's picture

Hi there,

I'm very new to sewing and would like to make a throw pillow with flanged edges. From what I'm seeing online, it looks like its best to reinforce fabric with some type of backing and then iron to make edges crisp.

If I can't iron velvet, what is the best way to go about this? It seems like most backing needs to be ironed on and then I'm not sure how I would get the folds right either.

I'd appreciate any feedback or help. Thank you!

Decorative Throw Pillow (post #50389, reply #1 of 1)

Why not you try decorative throw pillow online?  The fabric is a blend of cotton and synthetics with a soft feel  The pillow is reversible with the same pattern on both sides. I found Fabric Warehouse and they make a great couch throw pillows or even decorative bed pillows to truly bring a little style to your bedroom or living room.
