Best Prices for Silk Organza?

abcameo | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I’ve read several articles now touting the joys and benefits of silk organza. I checked all the local shops, but they don’t carry it.

Has anyone located some websites that sell this fabric for a really great (low) price?
Thanks,
Amy

Many, many people like http://www.thaisilks.com and http://www.dharmatrading.com/fabric/silk/organza.html

I've dealt with thai silks myself, and found their service and prices to be just fine.

Thank you for the leads, woodruff. I wish any of my local shops carried it. I like to support them if possible--even though there are mostly the large chains nearby. By the time you're done adding shipping charges on small orders, the price is usually not much of a bargain anymore. Smaller shops here have limited their stock to quilting cottons. They don't carry any other fabrics. Quilting has been super hot in the Sacramento area and the craft seems to be growing all the time.

Amy, it's been a while since I've visted Tayo's in Fair Oaks, but I think she has had silk organza in the past. She also had amazing buttons, and a good supply of independent sewing patterns. Quite a few temptations, actually.

          Wouldn't you know--the one shop I haven't been in yet. ;-D
When I went over, they were closed.Do you live in this area? I'm in Roseville (sound like I left NYC a few weeks ago, although I've been out here for something 19 years!). I just joined the ASG last month and have been to 2 local meetings so far. I'm very excited that a new local chapter is starting up right down the road from my house. It's a couture group. I'm more a beginner/intermediate with BIG design dreams, unfortunately, minus the tech skills to match my ambitious sketches.

I live waaay down in southern California, but we have friends in the Sacto area, and visit fairly often. I try to keep in touch with the fabric stores wherever I go, heh-heh.

This is just a general reply re the silk organza for those sewers in Vancouver B.C. Dress Sew on Hastings has about three bolts of white silk organza at reasonable prices. Saw them this week!

Hi.  I have used silk organza for interlining and interfacing and think it is great.  I get it from Super Silk, http://www.supersilk.com.  They have it in white, in two different widths and it is very reasonable.  The people are very nice and accomodating.  They have other silk as well.  Best regards.  Marie

Thank you for the recommendations. I went to each site and checked prices. Dharma Trading seems to have the least expensive at $4.33/yd. They also sell by the bolts.
