ambience lining–washable?

Lara_Tucker | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I usually use ambience to line things that I will be dry cleaning, but I wanted to use it for some fabric that I hope to wash (cold water). Has anyone ever tried washing ambience in the machince on cold water? What were the results?

It loses a little body but it is washable. Try a sample first and see if you are satisfied with the change in the hand of the fabric.

*I've heard a little about Ambiance but never used it. Where does one purchase it? The local fabric stores don't carry it.

*I use Ambience lining whenever I can. I will wash it in cold water or dry clean, depending upon the care of the fabric I am lining. You can purchase it at The Fabric Center, Morris, Il [email protected].

*I'm looking for a pattern for a 6o years old lady teacher who still wants to look youthful. She's going to use stretch denim. Can you help her to find one or give some ideas?

*R. Zayas, why don't you take this question over to http://www.sewingworld.com. Look under "Patterns and Fitting," and I'm sure you'll find some ideas and help there.

*Ambiance lining is washable and dryable (says so on the manufacturer's board). Just remember to pre-wash. However you want to treat it after construction, do before. I machine wash and dry even for the things that are to be cleaned. Slightly softer hand. Presses beautifully. There is a wee bit of shrinkage - not enough to worry about. Recommend you tear it straight before washing to avoid a major raveling ball. No need to use cold water.
