   *
   For the where try used book stores and http://www.hamiltonbook.com or http://www.softwearproductions.com. I seem to collect books but have not read as many as I'd like. There are so many books out there on various types of sewing. What type and aspect of sewing do you want information on?

   To get started: For garment fitting I like the Palmer/Pletsch book "Fit for Real People". Fabric references are the All About ... series (Silk, Wool, and Cotton), Sandra Betzina's "Fabric Savvy", and Claire Shaeffer's book (the title escapes me right now). You can't go wrong with books by Claire Shaeffer.

   *I'll ad my recommendation for Dian Ericson's book "Design and Sew it Yourself". Truly an encyclopedia of ways to release your creativity into the garmets you are making.

   *Ginna, I am interested in sewing with polartec fleece, pattern alterations, sewing clothes for men and women and household/craft items. Tips and hints for sewing and serger helps. Anything to do with making sewing easier and nicer and to teach myself techniques.

   *Paisley, there are so many books on these various areas. I don't remember if I covered fit but I like the Palmer/Pletsch book Fit for Real People. It only addresses fitting women but it is a place to start. I have heard very good things about the Readers Digest book on sewing (can't remember the title offhand) for general information. You also can't beat the sewing/craft books by Singer - they have such wonderful photos.I would suggest that you go to your local library and start seeing what they have. If there is a used book store nearby you should start checking it out on a weekly basis. The ones here turn over their inventory in the craft section pretty quickly.

   *Paisley, if you're still out there and wondering about books for sewing fleece, check out Nancy Cornwell's Adventures With Polarfleece and More Adventures With Polarfleece. They're my favorites of the 5 books on fleece that I own. Her instructions are clear, she's already done a lot of testing and her projects are great.PS. Working with quality fleece makes all the difference between a successful project and a "wadder"!

   *www.abe.comGREAT site for used (or new overstocked) books-- shows listings (with condition noted) from used book stores all over the country. But first check one of the major online book companies to see if the book is still in print and the current cost. Some used books are listed at a high price here and on ebay when they're still in print and you could walk into your local bookstore and buy them cheaper!
