Where to find…or…how to make a 1/4 size dress form?

kd_retired | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I would like to find a mini dress form shaped like an adult woman (not a doll), at a reasonable cost. I have read that 1/4size was used in the past for design preparation. Are they available nowadays?

If not, is there any talented person who has made their own, who would share their experience?

thanks,

kelley

I do not have my magazines close by, but there was an article in the Threads magazine in the past year on using such dress forms as a design tool and perhaps there was a link to places one could purchase one.  You could do a threads index search or maybe someone here will let you know which number magazine it was it was.  I have seen small articulated figures in art stores so it may be a place start looking.  I have one I purchased, just for my sewing room decoration at Ikea. Both the Ikea one and art store models are not padded but I think it would be easy to do.  Good luck.  Let us know what you find and what is helpful.

Identical Body Double by Anne K. Brenz, #144 (Aug/Sep 2009)

Peek Inside a Dress Form by Carol Fresia, #141 (Feb/Mar 2009)
