What Sewing Machine do you recommend?

Hi,
I have always sewn leather, denim, quilts and some delicates. But I am wondering which brand of sewing machine would you recommend? Mine suddenly stopped creating stitches and I have to go get a new one. Before I enter into any outlet and get pushed around, can anybody recommend me one and provide a brief discussion why? Thank you:) I am inbetween this: if I don’t ever own another sewing machine, I have a lot of stuff to get rid of. If I do decide to, I have to consider that it might be over $3000.00.

I love my Viking but I would buy from a nearby dealer and not from a Walmart or other discount store. They wil not service their cheap machines. If you buy from a dealer they will take care of you and your machine. I wouln't expect to be pushed around. Know what your needs are, what kind of sewing you want to do. etc. If you don't care about embroidery you will save thousands. If you do, you will want to spend more to have it. I think it is always good to have a machine that does just a little more than you think you will use because then it gives you room to stretch your skills and imagination. And you don''t have to spend more money than you have. Go with a figure in mind and don't be afraid to tell them you have a budget. And don't forget about Craigslist. There are some wonderful bargains there.
