Steam generating iron

527blessed | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Hi everyone!!! I am new to Gatherings but very happy to learn and share.  I received a stam generating iron as a gift and can’t seem to locate the manual.  I have tried using it but I am doing something wrong.  Can someone tell me how to use it or get a copy of the manual.  I have a White Model SI-85.  Thanks…..

I think that is the one that I have and the instructions are really quite simple.  Use plain tap water not distilled and not filtered.  Unless you live in a very hard water area or have a water softener then a good mix of the tap water and distilled will work. Add the water to the resevoir and plug it in and turn it on.  The filter if yours has one must be in place in order for it to produce steam.  The first time you use it and any time there after when it has been sitting idle for more than a week you may notice that after a great deal of steaming that there will be a rusty looking steam coming out of the vents.  I am told this is considered normal.  Also in the beginning there may be dry matter that comes out of the vent so you must break it in and get the lines clear. I think that you must be aware of this.  Also when you first use the steam generator unlike a steam iron the water has to warm up before you can get a good shot of steam, so don't try to jump the gun and get a bunch of water in the hose.

I know that this may seem like a bit of trouble but you will love the results. I don't know what I would do without my steam generator.  I also have friends that I have shown this to and they want one for themselves.

Good luck and hope this helps let me know if there are other questions.

I too have a White Steam Generator Iron. I cannot get it to work. I bought it at a silent auction fundraiser May 2005.  I cannot find any internet article information on it. or anywhere to even buy one new. I figured they at least would have some answers. Perhaps it has been discontinued?

It heats but does not steam. Mine appears to be quite a lemon, I'm afraid. And I have no recourse.

If you have found any answers to yours not working I'd love to hear about it.

Can you tell me if your generator has a filter that came with it?  If so make sure that it is correctly seated or engaged because not matter what if the filter is not locked in it will not make any steam at all. If there is no filter on the generator then order a new one. They cost about $20 maybe less it has been awhile since I bought any.  Good Luck.  I have the instructions around here somewhere if you need them let me know at [email protected]  and I will either make you a copy of them or scan them and send to you via email.

I did see a store on the Internet where I could purchase a filter. I will order one and see how it goes. Thanks for the tip!

Manual for White Steam Generating Iron

Hello can you please send me a copy of the manual as well? [email protected], Does anyone know where I can purchase the filter as we got this iron when we purchased our Husquavarna embroidery machine and have not been able to get it to work.

        Thanks
