Has anybody used something like this before? it is a foot for your sewing machine that works similar to a mini serger. I think its super cool and would like to have feedback on this.

WHile I haven't used one, I have seen it demonstrated. IMO, it cuts straighter (assuming that you are sewing straight) without fear of cutting the thread than cutting the seam by hand after using the overcast stitch on the sewing machine but inferior to using a serger. It slows down the sewing speed much like using a walking foot does. But it is cheaper than buying a serger. If you have a serger, I'd skip the foot.

serger foot
thank you. I had doubts but the video looked so cool. thats when I learned that one of these exits
Side Cutter for Sewing Machine.
I have used a side cutter accessory. Only it was Bernina and cost three times as much as the Singer product.
If you have ever used a serger you know there is a mess that falls down the front of the serger. With the side cutter, the mess falls onto the bed of the sewing machine. The feed dogs and bobbin area need cleaning after use, or during use if a lot of trimming is done.
The overcast edge will not be the same coverage as with a serger (two thread vs four).
