Machine bobbins

cme4this | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I have done dressingmaking for about 40 years but have retired from that. I recently bought a new Viking machine and have about 50 or so bobbins that will not fit my newer machine. I have had nothing but Vikings since the early 1960’s so these are basically Viking bobbins. I do know though that their bobbins will fit other machines at times so I just wonder if anyone is interested in having some bobbins. I will check the stores and see if I can learn what other machines thse bobbins will fit. I am not interested in selling them; I just would like to know that they can be of good to someone, and that someone could have them if they want them. They are all metal bobbins.

I would love to have your bobbins.  I teach Somali immigrant women to sew and we have a bunch of different machines.   I had to spend about $20 just buying a variety of bobbins to use and I know I could use yours.  You may be able to contact me with my email on the profile page.  If that doesn't work I can post it here until l you contact me.  Sue

I didn't hear from anyone right away, so gave all those at that time to a charity pick-up. I did find 27 more if you are still interested. Give me an address to mail them and I shall be glad to do that. I would have loved sending them to someone who I knew could use them, but that just didn't happen. I'll be looking for an address so I can mail these to you. Thank you so much. Bebe

Thank you for the address. I will see if I can get them in the mail tomorrow (Wed.). I do hope they will be of use to you in what you do. I also have many spools of thread that I am going to be getting rid of; are you interested? I was a dressmaker for about 40 years and also owned a fabric store. I am not doing much sewing any more so am weeding out many supplies. I gave away almost all my patterns a couple years ago and still have much too much in supplies. Just let me know anything you might be interested in.  Bebe

I would be happy to take thread also.  I keep telling these ladies they need to buy thread to match the fabric they buy, but they prefer to have me provide it!  And quite frankly, I'm not sure they understand what I am saying.  I can teach them to sew by demonstrating something - but I can't tell them anything because they don't speak the language!  It's a real interesting class but they are doing well and starting to make their own simple garments.  They don't want to learn how to do cuffs and collars.  The just want to repair things and make their own flowing garments.  I would pretty much take anything you care to get rid of and I promise that I will give it a good home if I can't use it.  Thanks Sue
