fitting stand

Nusia | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Hi All!

A talented carpenter wants to build me a stand, the type upon which I can do fittings: the type bridal salons use for the bride to stand on when the hem is way to long, for pinning.

Does anyone know the dimensions of this type of stand? I’ve googled, etc., and no info can I find!

Help!

Thank you!

Anna

The bridal salon where I used to do alterations for has those platforms.  Their's are about 6" off the ground, about 3'-4' in diameter.  I'm going by memory.  I'm pretty sure that the diameter was greater than the yardstick but I could be wrong.  Anyway, it's at least as big as a yardstick.  And it was covered in the same carpet as the floor.  We use it for fittings except for pinning the hem or bustle.  It was also used by the brides in viewing the gowns when trying on to buy.  The fitting/viewing rooms have 2 sets of 3-way mirrors on oposite walls so that the brides can see the back of the gown reflected in the mirror at the same time as they can see the front.
