   A good friend of mine, who is a Forensic Biologist, once asked me how we sewists identify fibre content. Turns out it is the same way she does - the old infallible burn test!

   *Ummm... Marion... that would be buRN test, not buM test.It is where you take a small sample of the fabric in question and hold it carefully over a flame with tweezers. Then, depending on the smell of the burnt fabric and the resulting residue, you can determine the fibre content.Of course, I could be very wrong about this, if one has sensitive nerve endings in one's posterior.

   *Aren't they nice to let us play over here, too? My sewing room/studio shares a wall with the landlords office. I'd better get these burning issues taken care of while I can still leave the windows open. Will you guys vouch for me if I get busted? The lease does say not to engage in fire hazzards.
