Do you have experience with Janome machines?

Patricia_G | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I am in the market for a new sewing machine and am considering the Janome. I looked at the Decor 4030 which is $699 and is supposedly a good machine for both heavy-duty and detailed work. I quilt but also like to do all kinds of crafty sewing. I would appreciate hearing about your experience with the Janome or a Bernina in the same price range. Thanks!

    Janome sewing machine

Hi!  firstly, I can't tell what grade range your sewing machine is because the dollars vary from country to country.  My Janome is the 2nd lower than the delux model.  Model 6125, bought brand new about 8 years ago.  Its great - it sews leather and it sews quilts and delicates like silk.  My problem with it is that because it is not delux, some of the handiness has been removed from its physical structure, but the motor, I have no problems with the motor whatsoever.  What I don't like about it being less than a top model delux is that the carrier that holds the needle is all one piece so whenever I go to change the needle, the entire apparatus comes off.

I have had Janome Mastercraft Machines........3000, 4300 and 9000( emb. & sewing. )  They are good machines but I lacked dealer support when getting into embroidery so switched brands to have a dealer with classes, etc.  For sewing, the Janomes are great.  User friendly and tough.  I know nothing of the model you mentioned but the brand itself is good.  I hope this offers some help.
