   I have a press. Mine does not have steam and I am glad. I use a spray bottle whenever I need to steam something. I was told that the presses with steam have trouble with getting clogged up, besides they cost more.

   I sew every day, but I don't use my press very often. But when I need to use it I am very glad that I have it. It is great for fusible interfacing. I make a lot of jackets that are underlined with a fusible tricot interfacing, it is really great for those.

   Most practical thing is to get a really good iron first. I have a Pacific Steam gravity fed iron from Atlanta Thread and Supply Co. I love it. There is no comparison between my iron and a domestic iron. My advise is to get a good iron and then get a press.

   *I will second Katydid's rec. on buying a good gravity steam iron. Pacific Steam is a very good value. The gravity feeds are more reliable than other types. I use distilled water in mine to avoid any maintainance problems.
