   Yes, I saw one in our local sewing store (Lakeshore Sewing) for the $29.95 price.

   It was reported to work well and selling well.  My #1 Plus Viking breaks the bobbins if winding to fast; so it would be a good addition.

   Thanks Curiopat, I`m hoping the local JoAnnes will get it in stock also. They are usually about 6 months behind the 8-ball here!  Bonkers

   Found SW at a Jo-Ann Super Store a couple of weeks ago (Dayton, OH).  You can also find them on line at ShopperRule, but not sure of the price.

   Hancock fabrics latest flyer is showing a bobbin winder, "Sidewinder" on sale starting Thursday for $19.99. It doesn't appear to accommodate the type of bobbin my sewing machine requires, though.

   There are several on the market.  I wonder if anyone on http://www.patternreview.com has reviewed them yet?

   Absolutely.  The Side Winder has been reviewed on PR.  Some pros and some cons.  I bought one and I think it is neat little notion.  Fast winding and auto stop.

   That's great to hear.  I haven't had any problems with my machine bobbin winder, but this still seems like a great tool to have.  Mary

   As I want to use a bobbin winder with the Viking bobbins they say do not work, I will probably be forced to buy a much more expensive bobbin winder that will take it for close to $50.

    

   I intend to use it in combination with the Bob 'n Serge.   Has anyone used this?   I just got mine from Clotidle for $12.95 so that you can wind 3 or 4 bobbins of an unusual color and not buy the 3 or 4 cones of thread.  Nice idea if it works.

   This site lists a modification of the Sidewinder that will accept certain Viking bobbins.  I don't know what the numbers they list mean as I do not have a Viking machine.

   Thanks soooo much!   I've ordered it.....I was about to order a winder that cost about $50-60....  It might have been a superior sturdier one but I doubt I would have used it enough to warrant that cost. 

    

   I have bought 30 3000 yards of thread spools (you choose the colors) from an Ebay site so I will be winding the bobbins and using the Bob n serge on my Imagine Wave!

   I didn't care for the Side Bobbin Winder in the slightest as no matter how hard I tried or what I did I never could get any type of thread spool to wind or any type of bobbin I currently had.

    

   It is being sent back to Shoppers Rule and I either will wind my bobbins on my Viking 980 or invest in a more expensive bobbin winder.  Unfortunately, often you do get what you pay for.

    

   Nice idea if it had worked and it should have.....it was so flimsy it wouldn't even stand upright without tipping over half way!

   Sorry you are having a problem with the Sidewinder.  Mine doesn't tip, so after reading your post I picked it up and found that I had placed a strip of rug grip (not sure of the correct brand name - it is displayed with throw rugs) under it.  I had forgotten about this as I ordinarilly never move the winder.

   I have wound many different bobbins and as long as the lever next to the bobbin is flipped toward the bobbin, it has worked.  Flipping the lever toward the spool stops the winding process.

   Blondielou, I'm curious as to why you are using bobbins with your Imagine. Are you using the bobbin threads only in the needles? I find that the loopers use so much thread that I always use cones of threads and not even spools. Usually serged threads don't show so no need to perfectly match the thread with the fabric color.

   Won't you find that your bobbins will empty very fast when serging on your Imagine? Are you using more than one color of bobbin thread combined in one looper? Just curious as to why use threaded bobbins for a serger that uses a lot of thread at once.

   I've seen several posts on another forum about using bobbins with sergers. I know that some do thread bobbins or use spools of thread to match fabric colors when using a coverlock for cover hemming because the thread shows top side of the fabric but I even reverse the coverhem (with the woven stitches on the right side of the fabric) with a coordinating color for a deco look for my Dgk's clothes.

   Just a thought - if you plan to use the sidewinder to fill bobbins for the bobnserge, and not use them in your viking machine, then it won't matter if it takes viking bobbins. You can just buy some cheap bobbins, mark them with a permanent marker so you don't confuse them with your vikings, and use them only for the bob n serge.

   I still haven`t bought one. I look at it at JoAnns every time I go in. It seems so flimsy and light for the price. I`m still waiting for it to go down about $10.00 in price or hear more good reports on it. I haven`t been sewing all winter so really have not needed to try it. Maybe when some pretty summer fabrics come in the store.   Bonkers
