Amanda Jane Pleater

jatman | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I was lucky enough to win an eBay auction for an Amanda Jane Pleater at a really good price.  I have never used one and this one came with absolutely no literature regarding how to use it.  It is also missing one of the pins that holds one of the rollers in place.  Does anyone have a source for parts for these things?  And also a source for manuals?  Any information would be appreciated!

Thank you!

jatman -- over on Martha Pullem's site, there were the exact questions being posted, which you may have seen. If not, the general gist was that there were step by step techniques in The Pleater Manual by Sarah Douglas, A to Z of Smocking by the publishers of AS&E, and A to Z of Sewing for Smockers.

They recommended going to Nanapennypockets site for the "How to Pleat" message on the board.

One person mentioned getting her pleater from Allbrands, and when I went to that site, I noticed books and videos and all sorts of good information re smocking. I also went to the http://www.pleaters.au.com site, and it looked chock full of info, also.

Try Googling "Amanda Jane Pleater manual" and see what comes up.

Thank you JunkQueen!  I will check these sites out.
