Can anyone help me with directions on how to use this foot. I never seem to get it right, especially the start of the hem. Unfortunately, many presser feet don't come with good, clear directions.

There's a good article in the Sept. 95 issue of Threads that explains it better than I can. The trick is to guide the raw edge into the spiral, and I found that especially when I was learning, it helped to start with less than 5/8 inch and work up to it for the first few inches. Also, it helps to hold the unhemmed fabric up off the machine bed and to the left slightly to guide it into the spiral. Practice, practice, practice, with different fabrics and types of curves. If you can't find the Threads article, post again and I'll try to give you more details. Hope this helps.

Beth: Thank you very much. You are right about practice, practice, practice. That is what I have been doing, and I think I have finally gotten the hang of it. I happened to find the article on the rolled-hemmer foot on page 62 of the Aug/Sept '95 issue. It helped a lot.
