We have a Sears Kenmore portable sewing machine-Model 49 with no owners manual. We are desparately in need ofbasic info. on how to use the machine. Anyone out there with basic threading info., or a manual who would photocopy for us? Will pay for any mailing and/or copy charges. Thanks.

Here are two ways to get threading information for your machine:
1 - go to a sewing machine dealer or repair shop that's been around a while. Take the machine with you and have the mechanic thread it. Take a picture of it (use contrasting thread) and keep it, or draw a rough diagram.
2 - Check out an older version of the Reader's Digest Guide to Sewing from the library. Most machines thread very generically. RD has diagrams to help you thread and wind the bobbin successfully.
*Hi I have a Model 47 if that is any help. Are they similar?? I would be glad to copy and send if you find no other source. Most larger Sears stores have repair shops that should tell you at least where to begin, or perhaps copy your own manual for you. If no satisfaction, "E" me and we can decide where to go from wherever you are at that time.. I also have the attachments box manual... I'm such a 'baglady'!!! Good luck, Janalisza PS. I will call a repairman in our town and explain. He is really a nice and helpful man. I'll see what he suggests. J
