Threads Vest

Karinlisa's picture

I want to discover which issue of threads had the vest pattern made up of lots of squares.  These were fused I believe and the squares were lappped over the edges to create a finished edge. I understand it was known as the threads vest.  I saw it made up at the Williamsburg Quilt Show at the Primrose Fabrics booth.

Hi, Karin,

Judy Neukam, one of our editors, was able to lay her hands on the article you're referring to right away: it's Bird Ross's "The Incredible, Reversible, One-Technique Jacket," Threads (Apr-May 1992), No. 92, pp.30-35. This looks to be a nifty, free-form way to finish a quilted garment's edges--I haven't tried it yet, but am inspired by looking at the article to use this method to trim a little quilted jacket I'm dreaming up for my daughter. Thanks for bringing up the topic!

Thanks I will order the issue.

It can't be issue 92.  Is it issue 40?  IT does say it is a jacket, not a vest.  I can't find the article listed in the magazine index.
